I love gardening. And I especially love starting plants from seed.
I tried sowing seeds by placing them near a window, but it didn’t work out well.
My plants were weak with long skinny bodies reaching for the light of the window.
Buying a set of lights was expensive, so I made my own. The lights helped me grow sturdier plants that survived when transplanted outside.
Wire Shelf Unit
Fluorescent Light Fixtures
Step 1 – Attach eye bolt to light fixture. The eye bolt needs long enough to go through the fixture, but short enough that it will not touch the bulb.
Step 2 – Attach S-hooks to wire shelves.
Step 3 – Attach chains and hang light fixtures.
The chains are great and allow us to move the fixtures up and down as the plants germinate and grow.
When the seeds are first sowed and covered, the light fixtures are up high, not touching the cover.
They are then lowered when the seeds germinate, providing direct light and raised as the plants mature.
I love sowing seeds indoor and kick-starting the season.
